Invitation by Getty Images

Woke up this morning and was sipping my daily dose of morning coffee when I saw this email from Getty Images:

Hello banhup,

Congratulations! You are now part of a select group of photographers that has the opportunity to participate in the Flickr Collection on Getty Images. For the first time, Flickr and Getty Images have established a way to bridge the world of photography enthusiasts (you) with commercial stock photography (Getty Images). Getty Images ( http://www.gettyimages.com/ ) has a phenomenal platform, extensive licensing expertise and a worldwide customer base. So trust us, your pictures will be in good hands.

Since this is new to all of us, we're sure you have questions. Please join your fellow Flickr members and Getty Images experts in the Getty Images Contributors group ( http://flickr.com/groups/gettyimagescontributors/ ). We'll be discussing everything from the enrollment tool to model release questions, so please join in on the discussion, we look forward to talking with you!

This is cool! It may not be a big deal for most but to me, any small form of recognition from anyone is a big deal to me - it is a good boost for the spirits at the very least. I don't know if I will ever submit any photo to them as I am not much of a stock photographer. Perhaps you guys can help me decide. The question is, if you get such an invitation, will you take up the offer?

Thanks for your input in advance.

By the way, this is one of the photos that they like.

At peace

  • Getty's getting quite popular as a source for newspaper, and book cover, if you take in consideration this as well it may turn out pretty good, I don't know how much could arm your current business, if you could step back one day.

  • Getty is the toughest stock agency and if they pick you, that really means something. ๐Ÿ˜€ Go do it (since you are so free)!!! Wakaka.

  • Thanks for your comments! I think I will stick to what I enjoy most…just shoot for fun. ๐Ÿ˜‰
