My Ebooks on Portraiture Post-processing

Mama, shed a tear for me

This shot was taken during my teaching photo-safari to Siem Reap late last year. We were on our way out to Tonle Sap, the largest freshwater lake in South East Asia, when we passed through this fishing village. What a great place for my type of street portraiture!

Taken with the Nikon D3 + [...]

Another of Farinaz

I have received comments that Farinaz Banoo Motiei reminded one of Elizabeth Taylor. I will let you be the judge.

Here is another shot of her.

Up to the challenge

Coaching a newcomer to photography and photoshop (I was told 2 months into photography) was indeed a challenge. I knew I could do it and judging from the shots taken by Tharma here, I think I can say that it was a success.

I started off with the very basics talking about my camera [...]

By the window

Or what's left of one. This was taken during my last workshop.

Window side-lighting is a great place to shoot especially in available light photography. This will be used to the max for this Friday's one-on-one workshop where I will be faced with many challenges. Should be fun.

My recent trip to Jiuzhaigou, China

Is there such a thing as paradise on earth? If there is, Jiuzhaigou has to be it.

Jiuzhaigou Valley (simplified Chinese: 九寨沟; traditional Chinese: 九寨溝; pinyin: Jiǔzhàigōu; literally "Valley of Nine Villages"; Tibetan: Zitsa Degu (gzi rtsa sde dgu)) is a nature reserve and national park in the north of Sichuan, a province in [...]

Glee

It is always  refreshing and comforting to see smiles and laughter from anyone. It doesn't matter where this laughter has come from, it is always a sight to behold.

The laughter we had from this image was no different. We were at a village outside Siem Reap, Cambodia when I took this shot. The [...]

Motion in red

This shot of Natacha Meunier was taken during my August workshop with Burke Strickland, a very keen photography hobbyist from Texas. When you have a great & gorgeous model, a good background and beautiful side-lighting (and of course, a patient participant), that to me is a formula for a potential good shot. Hope this [...]

Vintage Kharu

I have so many files to process that I almost do not know where to start. And I have files since March that I have not finished processing!

Well, I have to start somewhere as these files begged to be processed. For a start here is one of Kharunisia Jazmin taken during the [...]

Trapped

Another shot taken at the village that led us to Tonle Sap. This was taken on our return trip from the lake. We stopped by a village that makes hammock weaved from water hyacinth fibres. While negotiating how many we should purchase (to help the local 'economy' going) I got this boy to pose [...]

Back to the ‘future’

Yes, I have come back to reality. This is because going to Siem Reap, meeting the people there and experiencing their way of life is like going back in time. It reminded me of what it was like about half a century ago back in Malaysia. And Malaysia is still just a developing country!
