Kharu in white

I have always wanted to re-process this and finally got down to do it. This is a very different workflow from what I used to do. I worked more on the skin, added some colors to the make-up and used a combination of blend modes. I hope you like it.

This is Kharunisia taken with Nikon [...]

Happy go lucky

Life is short and I always advocate that it is better to consider a glass to be half full rather than half empty. The following shot always reminds me to be happy and never fails to put a smile on my face.

Taken at the Bali photo-safari organized by me a couple of months ago with [...]

Mugli, the boy from Jungle Book?

Not really. Took this in Siem Reap, Cambodia at a village near Tonle Sap.

Taken with Nikon D3 + Nikon 70-200mm/2.8 Aperture Priority @ f/3.2 1/320s ISO400.

This was taken a while back; I found it in my old files which I have somehow overlooked. I decided to apply my latest workflow to it.

Taken with Nikon D2X + Nikon 17-35 mm Aperture Priority @ f/3.2 1/180s ISO400.

I love the lighting of this photo

Trying to get the Hmong people of Sapa to pose for a photo  during my trip there was usually declined unless you buy something from them. This lady was an exception.

I simply love the lighting of this photo. Taken with Nikon D3 + Nikon 70-200mm f/2.8 Aperture Priority @ f/3.2 1/640s ISO400.

Not talking

If you have a great subject or a model half the battle is won. Kharunisia is superb in this sense. Give her a theme and whatever props and she will do the rest.

This was taken at a workshop by Manuel Librodo organised by me in Kuala Lumpur. Kharu was given the Chinese opera costume and [...]

Cleansed in prayers

This years cleansing ritual at sunrise during Thaipusam really fascinated me. Besides the throngs of people and followers, there were many photographers too especially around those performing their rituals.

This one is special to me. When I noticed him I could see the image I would like to capture. I maneuvered and jostled for a spot. [...]

Sensual

This is my all time favourite of Krystal Virulchanya, an actress-model from Bangkok. This was taken at my one-on-one workshop with the very talented photographer Manuel Librodo in late 2006. We placed Krystal in the shade with the mid-morning light streaming through the leaves of a nearby tree forming interesting patterns on her face and [...]

Just a glimpse – Photo to share

This was taken on one of my many personal trips to Bali. This gentleman was a souvenir vendor at the ground floor along the west side of Ubud market. It was mid-morning with light coming through the gap between two buildings from above him.

Taken with Nikon D2x + Nikon 70-200mm Aperture Priority @f/3.2 ISO400 1/320s. Processed [...]
